A native of California, Johanna Herrera began her artistic career in San Francisco. She received her art degree at The Academy of Art College, San Francisco, with a major in Photography. After traveling through Europe as a working photographer, Johanna moved back to Northern California to pursue a teaching career. It was then that she decided to take a ceramic class in order to further expand her artistic pallet and quickly realized her true passion for ceramic arts. Johanna has been pursuing the art of ceramics ever since.
Currently, Johanna Herrera works out of the pottery studio at San Rafael High School where she has been teaching pottery to approximately 200 students every year for the last 12 years. She promotes and sells her work at local art fairs and through social media platforms @redstar_pottery. Johanna’s ceramic work reflects her many influences of international cultures of the modern world. She continues to participate in ceramic workshops as often as she can where she continues to grow as an artist while also growing her pottery business.
